Step 6: Line up the top edges of the front and the back pieces and pin them together. Surge both sides. Pin the loose end of the crotch piece down to the front side of the underwear. |
Step 7: Cut the two strips of stretch lace that will line and elastisize the leg holes. Kate and I used 19.5 inch length pieces. You want the pieces to be an inch or two shorter than the length of leg holes since the streched lace this will make the underwear hug the leg. |
Step 8: Pin the lace to the legs, stretching it as you go: |
Step 9: Sew the lace in twice with the zig zag stitch. The first time sewing, sew the lace to the outter edge of the t-shirt fabric. Second time, sew the inner edge of the lace to the t-shirt fabric. You will also be sewing the sides of the crotch piece with this step. |
Step 10: Cut a waist band from a T-shirt, or use stretch lace (recommended). Size the waist band, cutting it a couple of inches shorter than the already sewn pieces, so that it will stretch when the undies are worn. Surge the ends of the band together. |
Step 11: Pin the doubled over waist band to the outer edge of the underwear and sew it with a straight stitch. This is so it won't move when you surge the band. |
Step 12: Surge the band into place and then you're finished. |
Step 13: Repeat steps 1-12 and make cool underwear for all your friends. |
